Teltonika Racing team driver Vaidotas Žala has finished his performance in the Rally Poland. This event took place on the 10-12th of June and is part of the European Rally Championship. The week leading up to the race was dedicated to training with the recently joined co-driver Ilka Minor. The team tested the tracking equipment and their new Škoda Fabia Rally2 EVO race car.
Teltonika Racing team has participated in Rally Poland over the weekend. This time Vaidotas Žala had a new co-driver, Ilka Minor, who has almost 30 years of rally experience. This summer she is temporary replacing regular team co-pilot Andris Malnieks from Latvia. The crew completed a total of 14 stages over the two days of racing. The first day was a challenging one. After hitting a rock on the road, Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo lost its wheel and did not finish the race. However, on the second day, the team increased the pace, managed to take a stage win and finished in 35th place in the overall standings - 20 min. 46 sec. behind the race leader.
The car was fitted with a small, smart, and waterproof Teltonika vehicle GPS tracker FMT100. Equipped with an accelerometer and a gyroscope, this device is designed to monitor the car on the track and provides detailed load and G-force data. Meanwhile, the Teltonika EYE Sensor accessory in the cockpit provided temperature and humidity data to the tracker via Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity.
‘’These smart devices are helping my team to see in real-time the precise location of the car on track, what are driving conditions, at what pace are we driving, what is the temperature inside the cockpit. Having this equipment, made by Teltonika Telematics we can quickly analyse data and make decisions, on what can we improve for us to increase the driving pace. These Lithuania made trackers, which can be applied in many areas, are extremely useful for us. They are helping us to better understand our racing course to improve results.“ – Vaidotas Žala has shared his experience with fitted GPS tracking devices from Teltonika Telematics.
The first half of the week before the Rally Poland, V. Žala and I. Minor and their team spent training. During these sessions, they improved mutual understanding and communication and adjusted vehicle Škoda Fabia R5 technical parameters. Despite intense preparation for the rally in Poland, the racing driver has cheered up some of the Teltonika employees. Vaidotas gave them the opportunity to experience what it's like to be a rally co-driver and drove them around an improvised race track, giving them a bit of adrenaline. The unforgettable moments experienced by the surprise co-pilot were captured on video.
