The Iridium Connected® Telematics Solution combines a Teltonika Telematics GPS tracking system (namely FMC125, FMx64x) and an Iridium Edge® satellite modem to communicate with Iridium® satellites via Iridium Short Burst Data® (SBD®) service. Whereas Teltonika trackers provide cellular connectivity (2G, 3G, and/or 4G LTE currently), Iridium Edge® works when no other network is available.

The combined features of the solution create an outstanding connectivity for vehicles and teams operating remotely, improving safety and fleet efficiency. It is particularly useful for various applications, such as remote mining and construction, international logistics, wildlife tours, and remote team management. iridium-sat-scheme.png FEATURES The Iridium Edge® is a device that can communicate with the server via the Iridium® satellite network. Iridium constellation of 66 active satellites in low Earth orbit, with each Iridium satellite connected to 4 others, creates a dynamic network that routes traffic between satellites, meaning true global coverage from pole to pole.

In short, the Iridium Edge® is a plug-and-play satellite IoT modem that can be easily linked to GPS trackers via RS232 data link and extend their functionality to areas without GSM coverage. So whether a tracked asset is in the mountains, on the open ocean or in the vast desert with no cellular coverage, the Iridium Connected® telematics solution will ensure reliable satellite data transmission.
